Nordic and International Network for Safety and Security, NINSS,
is a non profit foundation that promotes both regional and international co-operation to increase knowledge and understanding of safety and security issues. NINSS actively promotes the exchange of information and best practice to improve communication and co-operation across borders, sectors and disciplines. A network comprised of Nordic and international experts from the public and private sector, governmental organizations and authorities and Universities contribute to the activities and assignments conducted by NINSS.  NINSS is a member of EENA Advisory Board. Some of EENA Advisory Board 2008 Achievements:

- the creation of the 112 Foundation, a wide education action to increase the level of knowledge of 112 in the EU. Its activities will be officially launched at the European Parliament during the European 112 Day on February 11 2009.

- 112 ESSN - Emergency Services Staff Network - that serves as a platform of communication between the emergency services staff in Europe ( first responders, managers, call takers,operators, paramedics, ambulance staff, fire-fighters, police officers, coastguards, search and rescue organisations)

- amendments of the emergency communications have been adopted by the European Parliament. This will lead to, among other things, accessibility of the 112 from the entire EU territory

- the project REACH-112 with the aim of improving answer to 112 calls made by people with disabilities.

- Roundtables on 112 in Romania and Poland. Others will follow

The 3rd 112 Awards Ceremony will be held on 10 February 2009, eve of the 2nd European 112 Day (11/2) on 11 February 2009 in Brussels with the presence of several high-level politicians. The 112 Awards Ceremony intends to recognize and congratulate individuals and organizations which have shown evidence of extraordinary behaviour and/or results and/or achievements in the topics detailed below.
